Historic Hyde Square started in 1999 to answer the question of how to engage residents in discovering neighborhood history. Over the years the group evolved to become advocates for preservation with a focus on the areas identified by the Boston Landmarks Commission in the early 1980s. Historic Hyde Square incorporated in 2003 as a nonprofit organization.
